999 - will take you to one of the emergency services such as Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Police or Coastguard.  This simple to use service will take details from you an ensure that you get to the right organisation for help.  This service does receive a lot of calls about non-urgent matters as well as hoax calls.  In an emergency, you need to call this number but always consider how much of an emergency something is as your call could be delaying someone who is in a life or death situation.
