Adapted swing installed in Park

A specially adapted swing for children with physical disabilities has been installed at Church Road Play Area after a local grandmother,Tricia Plummer, approached Kessingland Parish Council and Waveney District Council .

Her grandson Riley suffers from cerebral palsy and is unable to sit on a conventional swing without support, so after funding was made available from Sentinel Leisure Trust and Waveney Norse a new swing was installed and unveiled on the 28th April at Church Play Area. This is the first piece of equipment to be installed in the Waveney Area  in a project to improve access to play areas.

Mrs Plummer stated "This has given Riley independence because now he can sit on the swing on his own and have fun with his friends , which he couldn't do before. We couldn't take him to the play area before because there was nothing for him to play on "

A harness to use with the swing was given to Riley, with a spare being held at The Sweet Retreat for any other resident or person to use.
